June 25th – June 29th, 2014, we formed a unique collaboration between Jose’s Hands, EMM, Misioneros Del Camino. Together we will harness the expertise of dedicated health and medical professionals to address a myriad of health challenges in Guatemala.

Andrew Canonico
My name is Andrew Canonico and I am currently a first year medical student at George Washington. Last year I graduated from the University of Maryland with a Biology degree. Home for me is in New Jersey, where I used to work as an EMT. My favorite hobbies are playing soccer and baseball. This will be my first medical mission trip, and I am very excited to be a part of it. I couldn’t be more thankful for such a wonderful opportunity that has been granted to me!
Di Bai
I am a first year medical student at the University of Illinois, where I previously earned an undergraduate degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the Urbana-Champaign campus. I grew up in the north suburbs of Chicago, the first community where I became committed to service and volunteering. For two years, I was a dedicated mentor for an organization that focused on adolescent victims of domestic violence while they were living in transitional housing. In college, I led a reading program for elementary school students in nearby underserved areas and participated in an outreach program for local Congolese refugees. I currently volunteer for the free clinics at my medical school. Outside of school, I enjoy good food, music, and anything outdoors. This is an incredible opportunity to aid an underserved community, and I look forward to this experience as part of an ongoing commitment to global health and health disparities.
Estevana Isaac
My name is Estevana Isaac and I am an MD/MPH Candidate at Meharry Medical College. I am an Afro-Caribbean Hispanic raised in Jamaica, NY and am alumni to the University of Pennsylvania, where I co-founded and served as president of the Minority Association of PreHealth Students (MAPS). Penn’s first and only support group for prospective physicians, seeking to improve patient outcomes for underserved communities. I am currently seeking a career which will allow me to actively engage in health services research as well as help mold and shape national and international health policy. I am also committing much of my time as a writer and class representative for Meharry’s Newsletter, The Pulse. I am so very thankful to be selected as a 2014 Jose’s Hands ambassador!
Fariha Siddiqui
My name is Fariha Siddiqui and I am a rising second year student at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine. I previously attended Rutgers University with a major in Cell Biology & Neuroscience and a double minor in Psychology and Women & Gender Studies. Through my previous education, I gained a particular interest in equalizing medicine on a global scale and making healthcare more accessible to those in less fortunate situations. I feel Jose’s Hands is giving me the perfect opportunity to explore the ever-evolving field of international medicine and see firsthand what needs to be done to bridge that gap.
Kristi Ray
I am currently a first year medical student at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. I previously attended the University of Central Florida and graduated with a B.S. in Biology. I am passionate about global health, community based outreach, and sustainable agriculture. In my free time I enjoy scuba diving and anything that gets me outdoors. I am honored and excited to be a part of the Jose’s Hands family!
Nestor Yeyati
My name is Nestor Yeyati. I am from Boca Raton, Florida. I spent five wonderful years at Florida Atlantic University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences. At the moment I am a proud 1st year medical student at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. I am hoping to pursue a career in Orthopedics or Emergency Medicine. In May of 2012 I went on a medical mission trip to Jamaica with 11 of my classmates. We worked with local primary care clinics and helped provide medical screening tests to walk-in patients. I enjoy exercising, scuba diving and playing sports in my free time.

My name is Tiffanie Do and I am currently a first year medical student at in Orlando,FL. I’m originally from San Jose, CA and finished my undergraduate studies at University of California-Irvine.
