All You Need to Plan Your First medical Mission
Until every health student experiences their first medical mission trip, we have work to do.
We imagine a world where every doctor goes on a medical mission trip each year and communities without access to healthcare get the help they need.
We know that one mission trip is enough to make you fall in love with medical mission work.

Jose's Hands helps students find, fund, and feel transformative mission trips to the Caribbean and South America.
FIND It
The hardest part about planning a mission trip is finding one that’s right for you. We make it easy to find trips you love by giving you access to a pool of vetted experiences with clear descriptions, testimonials, and requirements. Once you find your top picks, apply and hear back within 1-2 weeks.
FUND IT
If serving others is your priority, helping you get there is ours. We’ve helped countless students secure funds for their mission trip. Every year we work with influential organizations to offer scholarships for our students, and it doesn’t stop there. We’ve created an easy way for you to share your ambition with friends and family so they can help you crowdfund your trip too.
FEEL IT
You will never forget your first mission trip; we trust that you’ll fall in love with the feeling of helping others so much that you’ll keep serving every year for the rest of your life. During your trip, you’ll be working alongside doctors, diagnose, educate.
ABOUT JOSE
Jose Jamil Miranda was born with an insatiable enthusiasm and a mission to care for others. As a first year med school student, Jose searched for and found a medical mission to the Amazon. During his mission, Jose was blown away by the feeling of purpose and fulfillment he experienced by serving communities without medications, health education, or doctors. He went on to complete a Masters in Public Health at Harvard and became an orthopedic surgeon and dedicated army officer, who made a mark on people with his big smile. Jose healed with both his hands and his love for his patients. In 2008, Jose suddenly passed away. A few months before his passing, Jose shared a wish with his brother Alex; for the rest of his life, Jose wanted to go on a medical mission every year. Although Jose was not able to live out his wish, his brother Alex vowed to carry Jose’s dream forward and founded this non-profit organization so that many others can carry out the work of Jose’s Hands.

For the past 6 years, Jose’s Hands has served thousands of families in South America and the Caribbean.

MEET ANNA
“I never imagined how much my life would change after going on a medical mission. I wasn’t sure how to choose my specialty and was really dreading having to pick a path. Then I met Leila, a joyful little girl from Punta Cana, DR, who stole my heart. She had heart palpitations and spending time with her and seeing her improve was the greatest gift, and it made me realize I wanted to pursue cardiology.”

MEET JEFF
“The scholarship helped me meet my financial need to raise money for the medical mission. It gave me the boost I needed to get my fundraising going and see my dream come to life of going on a medical mission.”
